It's an area of criminology that is getting more interest... thanks to hit TV shows like CSI, Law & Order and the like. Those TV shows make it look so easy and of course most of their cases gets solved by the end of the show. Duh get real right... LOL.  It would be interesting to see how this area is being utilized in the local cases. Do you know of any interesting cases? Care to share???

Bwahaha! in the locals...we say Forensic Medicine is same as legal medicine here except for academic discussion...
Forensic medicine - is a branch of medical science which deals with application of medical knowledge to elucidate legal problems.
Legal Medicine - – is a branch of medicine which deals with application of medical knowledge to the purposes of law and justice...

is there really difference? none!  ;D

well guys.... just quit my forensic job recently after a short stint. It's just too stressful. Found out that I just can't deal with the criminally insane! They could not pay me enough, hazard pay included. Transferred to the addiction services instead.  >

Forensic medicine is just a new term for legal medicine. Its just a new concept applying new discoveries in medical science such as the DNA. It is very much utilized here in the country except that in more serious cases we have to ask the assistance of the FBI to ensure the reliability of the results. I will venture to say that our current crops of medico legal officers get further training and specialize in forensic medicine though I heared that its already offered in some medical schools. Moreover, the equipment needed to fully harnesh the benefits of this new development is so expensive our local police could hardly afford them.
