The rationale for this forum is to provide our professionals the opportunity to know who among us have greatly contributed to  advancement of crimonology as a distinct discipline in the field of criminal justice system. I can think of RKM among them for having authored several books delving on several areas of criminology education. Do we an agreement on this?

Hello sir junsy, with all due respect to our elders, we belong to our own generation - the young, more aggressive, innovative and advanced. Even if we are just starting, humbly, i can say that we all have contributed in one way or another as to the advancement of criminology/criminal justice, and we continue to contribute more in our simple ways.

We must not forget our Criminology Pioneers in the Philippines as they are the people behind what we are now today and the profession. Maybe i should start with the first Criminologist in the country, holder of license number 0001, Teodulo C. Natividad. We maybe even consider him as Father of Philippine Criminology for his great contribution (in Congress, PNP, NAPOLCOM) and Criminology in general. Aside from him, i can remember the late Atty. Juan Agas, the late Dr. Jose Maniwang, and the past and present Deans of Criminology for all their effort in building our profession.

Special mention goes to: Dr. Artemio Panganiban - former PCAP President, Dr. Mercedez Foronda -PEACE.

Please add some more. Tnx

Thank you SS for the prompt info on the topic. Maybe we should have more research on this historical aspect of our profession. Dean Dan Gregorio of Cavite State University alleges that the father of criminology in RP dates back during the Spanish time. Be that as it may, may I suggest that RKM reserve a space in his future books or revise editions acknowledging the role of these personages if only to institutionalize their contribution. Further, this could be one of the questions in the board exam so their memories may be etched in our mind and give justice to their pioneering efforts to elevate the prestige of our chosen profession

Of course that was just my opinion sir  , I stated T. Natividad as "maybe considered" Father of Phil criminology aside from he is the Father of Philippine Probation.

Though looking back to historical accounts, there are some people who maybe considred to this title too...but then, maybe we should set the parameters first of selecting the "who's who" in this category... ;D..
