One of the less noticeable patrol operation of our Mamang Pulis today are being done by the PNP Maricom. Hmm kumusta naman kaya ang kanilang mga speedboats. May fuel ba o wala. It seems nothing is heard about this pnp unit. Ano naman kaya ang kanilang accomplishment. Our coastal or municipal waters are not immune from criminality. Palagay nyo kaya relevant pa ang unit na ito considering its not so impressive records of accomplishment.

sir junsy, i think its foot patrol because of obvious presence of patrolmen with the common tao, visual effect of a uniformed personnel in the community will deter potential criminals. The idea of police omnipresence here is greater than mobile patrol.

I have this question long time ago: Which is more expensive type of patrol, foot or helicopter?  ;D

parang mas expensive yata ang foot patrol for the sidewalk vendors, ;D lagi kong nakikita mga mamang pulis nakatambay sa mga nagtitinda ng turon at buko. hehe...pero hindi naman lahat....konti lang sila..

patrol operation is one of the activities of our PNP organization, wherein it is always conducted by our PNP members, because by means of patrolling it can deter the would be criminals in committing crimes.

PNP organization believes is POLICE omnipresence.

_i think that would depend on the place sir junsy. of course, foot patrol would be greater for places not accessible by mobile. hehe,. generally, foot patrol would be nicer cause you are to establish a rapport on the citizenry, thus, gaining their trust which may further result to their full cooperation.."wink'.. >

You're absolutely right, Steg. Kaso halos di na ginagawa ngayon ng kapulisan natin ang foot patrol. Maybe its a sign of changing times brought about by so many societal change. D na bale wala na foot patrol basta wala ng eskandalo like the case of the Euro Generals.

naku naholdup palang ang kaibigan just a few meters away from the police station, kung nagfootpatrol sila instead of watching kahit isang saglit malamang may nahuli pa, haaaay...dapat walang television sa police stations, ;D ;D

Patrol is to provide for public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations.

patrol is designed to respond in any Crisis situation... Patrol is the Back bone of the PNP... It is the first respondent and emergency...
They can also project the so called " Police Omnipresence "' Which is the mere presence of the Police officer wearing their uniform can already prevent Crime...

I had observed that a lot of criminology instructors are alien to the subject Patrol & Police Opns...the real essence of patrol operations is not given a touch of reality...most delve on books. Police visibility is the essence of patrol operations and must be taught with zeal by seasoned instructors.Sad to say, lots of real active and retired cops hasnt got the zeal to impart the most important police functions.

maybe these cops lost their zeal in imparting the so-called real essence of patrol because they themselves got bored during their patrol routine operations......hahay

when i took my OJT we were assigned in the busy streets, the police officer said okay patrol tayo... ayun naglakad lang kami habangnagkwekwentuhan. they did not teach us what to look out for, what to observe, who are suspicious looking, and when i asked. he just said. "basta" pag may rambol yun na yun...haay very reactive. as a student i learned the purpose of patrol is preventive i.e proactive, pero pag nasa field ka at tinuturuan ng isang pulis, mahirap kumontra, because it is not my place, hindi naman ako pulis, (it really hurts, but there are times we have to play ignorant, haha!) kaya lang yun na yung naiinculcate sa mga ibang students, hindi lahat ng studyante katulad kong matigas ang ulo at di nakikinig when i know i'm right... haha! universities should really be careful in choosing who would teach their students. pag kasi OJT kahit sinong pulis lang ang on duty yun na yung assigned sa mga students...not all police officers are adept in their jobs, sad, but true.
