Do you agree that CORRECTION as a pillar of the Criminal Justice System is the "weakest" pillar? Why? Why not? Elaborate your answer/s.

I think correction is not the weakest pilar in CJS because the correction is concern in the treatment of offenders through a system of penal incarceration, rehabilitation, probation, and parole, or the administrative system by which these are effectuated.
An amount or quantity added or subtracted in order to correct.that means that correction helps the people to reform and rehabilitate.

In my opinion ,, we can't entirely blame all the faults to the correction pillar and think that it is the weakest pillar.. why? because each pillar needs to work together and be productive so that we can really say that our criminal justice system really works.. that means the correction pillar cannot work alone with itself,, SUPPORT from the other 4 pillars and from our government is needed .. if the correction pillar can only provide enough facilities and programs and be directed by the right people,, then rehabilitation and reformation can be really achieve.. ---bow..--

In my opinion correction is not the weakest pillar of the cjs,..why do i say so?..because correction as a pillar corrects, reforms and rehabilitate criminal offenders, which will turn criminal offenders as law abiding citizen and a productive individuals once they are reintegrated into the society or in the community.
Its up to the community or to the society to treat individuals that have been convicted equally and give them a chance socialize with them, not to judge them from who they are and where they from. Instead give them a chance to live normally in the society..
Maybe we should consider community as the weakest pillar?

I disagree. Correction Pillar is not the weakest.. It is the COMMUNITY Pillar. This is because the last group to receive the released person is the community with which it's function is to accept the released person as a presumed reformed and law abiding person. To be able for the released person to obey the laws. And not to commit crimes again. For me The weakest is the commmunity It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the COMMUNITY to ACCEPT the exconvict to start a new life. And lastly my observation nowadays that recidivist criminals tempted to commit crimes because of lack of opportunity especially on works/jobs.

para sa akin hindi ang correction ang weakest pillar sa cjs. ang community ang ang wekest dahil hindi sila marunong muling tumanggap sa mga taong nagkasala na kung saan galing sa kulungan. ang tingin pa ng komunidad sa kanila ay kriminal parin dahil sa titulong ex-convict. kaylangan natin silang tanggapin at pagkatiwalaan muli dahil tao rin sila.... nag kasala man sila siguro ay may mga personal na dahilan. hindi lahat ng nakakagawa ng krimen ay napag planuhan lalo na pagdating sa emosyon at pagmamahal. para sa akin gnagwa ng BuCor ang kanilang makakaya para sa atin mga bilanggo kahit kulang man sila sa pondo o may tiwaling nagbubulsa para sa mga programa rito. the duty of community pillar is to accept and to love again the all ex-convict persons. we have to put trust again for them in order to prove that we are part of community pillar....

No sir, Coz as far as I know, the personnel of the Bureau of Correction do everything to make the organization better. They have many programs that can help for the rehabilitation of the prisoners. For me,budget coming from the government is not enough for the increasing nos.of the prisoners. And this is the problem why some of us think that this is a weakest organization in CJS.The mandate of this organization do their responsibility to carry their objectives. And I think it is enough to prove that this organization is well functioning.
"Reach Out and Give Second Chance . . . the WAY to Restore the Dignity of Inmates."
As their slogan says,if we give a second chance they can improve the best of their organization.

sir good eve, for me correction is the weakest pillar among the pillars of Criminal Justice Education, because they failed to rehabilitate criminals, even if it has rehabilitation programs they can't reform these criminals.
The correction staff has the authority in every prisons of jail, example is a warden, but still if it has a person who will govern them the crime rate inside the prisons increased, there were illegal use of drugs so how these pillar can be a strong pillar among others if they cannot control this prisoners.
and it must have a big budget so that prisoners will not commit crime inside.it shows that correction is the weakest pillar.
