I just post this topic to express my sentiment in Supreme Court and to call an attention to whom it may concern. I and my churchmate in IGLESIA NI CRISTO went and proceeded to Security Division of SUPREME COURT to get apply there as watchman. We discouraged by the some security officers inside by advising us to discontinue our effort and our time has wasted because we are surely be rejected by the Chief Security because of we're not posses their minimum height qualification as well as at least 5'7 in height. Yes, we feel disappointed and embarrassed at that time but we need to positively accept such failure experienced by us. But the disclosure of my bro.-in-law who is working there as watchman and marshal to be, has been causing me a heart break and it pushes me to create this forum when he told me that there are 5 recently hired personnel who are under 5'7 in height but because of the influence of their backer, they have got accepted. Actually, I'm not against in their acceptance for those personnel but my question is, has our Supreme Court allowed that the double standard treatment be reigned in their system? As what I've known, the security force of Supreme Court has covered by the IRR of R.A. 5487. As far as R.A. 5487 is concern, it prescribes in section 5 that the minimum height is at least 5'4 in height.
"Section 5. Qualifications Required. No person shall be employed as security guard or watchman or private detective unless he is: (a) a Filipino citizen; (b) a high school graduate; (c) physically and mentally fit; (d) not less than 21 nor more than 50 years of age; (e) at least 5 feet and 4 inches in height; and (f) suffering none of the disqualifications provided for in the preceding section:..."
They should be fair and impartial as what we have known as the trademark of our Supreme Court. Why do they need to discriminate anyone who is qualified but because of being no backer or no influence, he would rejected by them? Why don't they give an emphasis in their employment procedure the competency and being knowledgeable as their general standard in choosing personnel? But as what my friend advised, that is the norms of our society nowadays, that's why I should accept the discrimination I had suffered. But I'm still hoping, this unjust trend will be changed, perhaps the ADMINISTRATION of Supreme Court doesn't know anything about this and they might not allow the said double standard and discrimination will prevail in their system...
