For Deans and Research instructors please:

i have some questions for you. i hope you could shed light to these. It's my first time to handle crim research and stat under the new curriculum (cmo 21).

1. do you require a full-blown thesis or a case study as requirement for graduation? or sa subject lang?
2. what format do you follow for the research paper? chapter 1 to 5 thesis or the more liberated case study format? (wala daw format ang case study?)
3. do you require the case study as part of OJT? or separate sya from OJT?

CMO 21 was not clear on this requirement eh. thnks a lot!

hi. I am not a dean nor a research instructor. I just want to say this mamdulz:
1. Sa masters degree lang ang thesis type full-blown, pero pwede rin sa undergrad depende sa standard mo.
2. Sa undergrad, usually case study lang pero pwede ring action research para maranasan nila statistical presentations
3. APA ang gamitin mong format
4. Result of students research dapat compiled to the ofc or library for accreditation purposes.

;D

thanks for the reply matt. Ano ba required ng CHED (or whoever looks after the Criminology program) pagdating sa research output ng students at present?

The last time I taught this subject was in 2002 pa in another school. I required my students to do a thesis. But when CMO 21 came into existence, where there a mention of a case study, medyo nagdoubt na ako if I should be requiring a thesis or a case study. Ang thesis kasi na nrerequire ko dati (pre-CMO 21) dwells on topics such as analysis.., evaluation..., assessment... pero ngayong case study na, more focused on a particular case sila. So naconfuse na ako sa format.. I wonder kung anong ginagawa ng ibang crim schools. I'll look into the APA..

So my next question is, did you deviate from the old research system nyo after the advent of CMO 21?
or did you adapt changes in the research format, topic, and scope?

Thanks to RKM for having this wonderful discussion board. I met RKM in Cebu. A very gentleman Criminologist and academician.

Thesis type ma'am...fullblown thesis type. No otherway to teach our studs on research but to let them know how to come up with fullblown theses

ok! maraming salamat! my next move is to convince the Other Crim Instructor who made his own
3-chapter format case study na thesis format ang ifollow nya dapat. Un daw kasi hinahanap ng CHED during accreditation. Whatever that is... I surveyed na din the other crim schools, thesis style talaga.

Big help from u guys really. I appreciate your kind attention to this query.
