I'm a bit worried about the seemingly low passing average of criminology board exam passers.  Certainly, there must be some reasons. Is it the fault of the individual or the  system of criminology education. Lets identify them here so we may have a chance to correct them in the future or bring them to the attention of concerned individual or groups or government agencies. I can cite one. We have no standard references in most of the subjects taught.

Eto lang pwede ko maishare dito sir, its a matter of unity of the core group making the CJE program with proper dessimination of it to all concerned. Dapat sana yong PRC at CHED congruent yong subjects na binibigay sa Board Exam at sa mga nasa curriculum.

We need a law regulating our own criminal justice education.

textbooks,,, we have so many textbooks in criminology yet they are in American setting,,, we rely on our professors and their handouts, which may not be congruent with the questions given in board exams...our reference are often so complex that there is difficulty in actually understanding the system...i am more concerned in understanding what i read rather than memorizing, so i say textbooks in philippine setting, with explained details

This is exactly the reason why we localized publication of criminology books, some sort of textbooks and compilations of researches and review materails...kahit alam naman natin na most are taken from foreign sources pero atleast they are patterened with PRC and CHED curiculla...and..affordable..

And we encourage everybody to do what they can share in our circle...textbooks, manuals, compilations, reseraches, program development..plans or anything...to improve what we have ..

so far you have identified the lack of Philippine-setting textbook, the lack of congruence between CHED and PRC.. please let me add that most (if not all) of the Criminology instructors do not have the necessary and effective teaching skills. You might agree if I say that most of Crim instructors are, well obviously, Crim graduates who were taught by Crim teachers who were trained as criminologists but not trained to teach Criminology. It's a cycle... it has to break sooner or later if we want to see improvement in the system of criminology education. Add to that the lack of effective communication skills among teachers and entrants to the BS Criminology program.

So what we need to do is to train criminology teachers to become Teachers. To graduate with a BS Crim degree is one and to teach Criminology subjects is another.

I eat and cook french fries. But it does not mean that I could teach French!" (LOL)

sa AUF...may simulations sana, yung actual na investigation kahit make believe lang sa isang crime scene....where all the areas in criminalistics could be applied, researched and defended in a panel of instructors,,,pag kasi procedure and may active participation ang mga students mas madaling tandaan kesa sa puro theoretical...magastos nga lang,,,, ;D

I fully agree withb this warden betong sir. There should be a law regulating the parctice of our profession as criminologists. RA 6506 is not enough. there should be a congcrete law regulating our profession and protecting our interest
