sa tingin ko its ok! and i think depende sa situation, meron times that we really need to break the law inorder to uphold it. like when we deal with law enforcers breaking the law instead of enforcing them, as well as hardcore criminals who have been previously punished tapos bumabalik pa rin sa crimen, dapat sa kanila walang batas batas. It maybe harsh but the "ends can be justified by the means" sa cases na ganito.

personal view sabi mo eh he he

.....i've read one case which i think is applicable to the question above. 2 babies were born with one heart, one lungs....they needed a critical operation so as one of them will live. the law guaranteed that killing is against it, so the case breaks it. ..the law also assures the right of every living creatures a right to life, liberty and dignity(tama ba?), thus, the case also upholds the law. sacrificing one baby's  life to spare the other baby's life
.....in life as in football game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard

there is a big difference when you say breaking the law and bending the law. breaking is permanent while bending is temporary. Bending the law is very prevalent in situations wherein u need to bend the law of its imperfection for the benefit of justice.

Yeah. To everything there is a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to kill, a time to heal.

A time to break the law?

In my opinion, LAWS are dynamic. So if upon serious consideration that their is a need to break a law for the greater good, SO BE IT.

the law is always the law, the law maybe harsh but it is the law, and no one is above the law, so there is no way of breaking it to uphold it. No matter how difficult to control crimes, the law must be uphold without breaking it or else theres no use of having laws!

As I said laws are dynamic. It means that laws maybe good today but after 50 yrs it is no longer applicable. Examples are the penalties provided under the RPC, most of them need revision. For prostitution and vagrancy the penalty provided is 200 pesos. Maybe that was good 20 yrs ago but today 200 is very affordable. But of course these are only some exceptions. In America 50 yrs ago abortion is illegal but today some states legalized it. In short, laws are made in order to suit the present needs. Some laws are either revised or abandoned due to its non-applicability.

the discussion talks about whether it is ok or not to break the law inorder to uphold it. I maintain my position that laws are laws and whatever it takes should be upheld without breaking it.

the point regarding dynamisms of laws, of course, when it is necessary to catch up with the fast changing times, then laws should ba changed to fit the time.
